88 year old lady with alzheimers plays guitar and sings with her son
Alzheimer’s can be difficult to deal with, especially when your loved one doesn’t remember special details that mean so much to you. Kelly Ridings from Dalton, Georgia knows these struggles all too well — his mother lives in an assisted living home and suffers from the disease. After all these years however, they continue to bond over a special common interest: music.
Just in time for Mother’s Day, Ridings posted a touching video to Facebook of the duo singing “Praying” by Vern Godsin, and the adorable 88-year-old definitely comes alive with the music. The best part? His mother was playing the guitar!
“Mom is 88 now. She’s in assisted living and has Alzheimer’s but she can still play and sing better than anyone in my eyes,” he wrote on the post. “I realized while I was singing with her tonight, I had never videoed us singing together, so I captured a couple of songs for posterity.” The post has since received over 369,000 likes and over 500,000 comments, and people are totally love the touching duet.
