This performance gives us Bill and his group performing on stage while some incredible swing and tap dancing are happening on the dance floor. Bill sings the legendary tune, ‘Rock Around The Clock.’
The performance from 1956 occurred at the ‘West River Club,’ and Bill is joined by two other guitar players, an upright bass, piano, drumset, and tenor saxophone. Dancers are whirling around across the floor, and some couples do a solo dance together. The guitar solo comes in, adding a surf-rock feel to this early rock and roll masterpiece.
The music gets your toes tapping, and the dance moves are incredible. The dancers are tapping and mixing in some jumps and lifts as well. It is like a time capsule of 50s music and dancing. “Rock Around the Clock’ was the first rock and roll record to reach number 1 on the U.S. charts. It quickly became the party anthem for 50s youth and inspired other artists to record similar music.
